Pakistan U19 pace bowler Mohammad Waseem has thanked coaches for his remarkable 5 for 12 in 7.4 overs which awarded him Man of the Match against Scotland U19 in the tournament opener at Potchefstroom.

While speaking in a video released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Waseem looked delighted for his performance and credited coaches who worked hard on him for the past one month at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

“Thanks to Almighty for five wickets in the first match of the tournament,” he said. “The bowling coach worked really hard on my bowling action which helped me to give this performance which benefited the team,” He added.

Waseem appreciated the opening bowling duo of Abbas Afridi and Tahir Hussain who bowled great line and lengths early on and he took the advantage at the back end of the innings to rattle the opposition batting.

“They both gave me a great platform which allowed me to execute my plan and I bowled yorkers and bouncers,” he maintained.

Pakistan U19 comprehensively won the first match of the ICC U19 World Cup 2020 defeating Scotland by 7 wickets after bowling them out for 75 runs.

Captain Rohail Nazir (27) and Irfan Khan (38*) were the star with bat whereas Abbas and Tahir also took two and three wickets each.

It must be noted that Pakistan will now face Zimbabwe U19 at the same venue on January 22.
