Jason Roy became the first batsman in T20 Internationals to be given out ‘obstructing the field’, when England took on South Africa in the second match of the T20 series in Taunton.
The opener was well on his way to take his side home, chasing a target of 175 when his dismissal derailed the England innings. After being sent back by Liam Livingstone, Roy turned and tried running back to the bowler’s end and in the process, was struck by the throw from backward-point. After deliberating amongst themselves, the umpires decided to take the help of the TV replay, after giving the soft signal as not out. Seconds later, the TV Umpire Tim Robinson decided to give Roy out for ‘obstructing the field’.
Here is that incident!
